I have a kitchen time in my office. As an employee it was very easy... There was a time limit. Being your own boss it is a different game... A small 2 hours task used to take me 8 hours. Today, one of the methods i use is to set up an alarm clock to keep me on track.

Amir

Re: Organizing Solution for Your Junk Mail (The Snail Mail Kind)

Wow! That's great news. I'm having a problem with junk catalogs piling up in the front of my car. That's where I put the mail on the way to pick the kiddos up. All week I've been looking at them thinking gosh, when am I going to have time to go through all that mail. Finally did today and it was almost all junk! Looking at that clutter allweek was definitely taking some energy away. Thanks for the great tip on the website. Definitely will put it to use.

Re: Organizing Solution for Your Junk Mail (The Snail Mail Kind)

Great post Samantha. Very informative and useful.

Speaking of junk mail, you should see me sometimes. I am always afraid some really important piece of mail will get lost in all of the loose junk mail ad catalogs and I go through each of them meticulously to make sure something doesn't get overlooked. I guess that is by design by the ad companies.

Take care

Re: Organizing Solution for Your Junk Mail (The Snail Mail Kind)

I am working on several right now trying to see what the best one is... you will be the first person I tell. I'm going to do it right now!! With our automatic bill pay, almost the only mail we get these days in catalogs..and 90% of them go right into recycling. This makes much more sense. A recent book I read called "Rework" takes a different tone - just keep doing what does work. Not about fail as such as adjusting. Much more to come out later this week on "Rework".

Re: Feeling Robbed of Time? I have a whole things on having written plans too. The stats on having something written versus just doing are incredible. The person with a plan tends to make 10X more in a short span of life. That is reason effort to put it on paper for me even if I need to make adjustments.

Re: Feeling Robbed of Time? It helps to have a plan in writing the day before or even weeks before working a business. I will be back to read future articles. People need to have a plan in writing the night before to achieve the desired results in their business. The key is to fail fast and fail cheap.

The classic mindset is to try to get a business plan or product 95% right before taking action. This is great in theory, but it rarely works because as soon as you deal with the product there are immediate and fatal flaws. And then, it's often too late to change the marketing.

I think an alternative is to get your idea 50% right. We as business owners have to discover the other 50%, and if that goes well enough, then our customers will inform us of the rest.

Listen, learn, get it 50% right, and put refine the idea through a process (again). Keep at it until cash is flowing and customers say, "Wow!"

Re: Are Mompreneurs Taking the Lead?

Mompreneuers are totally taking the lead...just you watch us!!

Peace and Abundance,
Deborah

Re: On the Radio – The “Mompreneur” Interview

Congratulations on the show! Having an external drive is a great solution to ensuring your important data is available should your hard drive crash.

But what if a power surge or some other type of "natural disaster" destroyed both your computer and your backup drive?

That is why I believe it is so important to add an offsite backup solution to your backup strategy. I personally use Mozy Unlimited Backup , an unlimited backup service ($4.95 per month) that uploads the files I want backed up to their servers on whatever schedule I choose. This way, I know have my information should my home burn down.

Re: The Value in Backing Up Your Computer (and Your Life)

Oh what horror that would be Samantha. I can appreciate where you are coming from. Although you didn't lose your data, you're still stuck having to upload the programs. YUK! Did that 6 months ago and it seems to take forever. This, to me, is the most important step - though I understand why you have waited to include it for day 3. I've skipped taking the time to be sure that my values are aligned with my business before. Let me tell you, we will ALL struggle to stray from our principles. No matter if we want to or not, it abides. I've dove down head first without taking a moment to grab air into a business opportunity before, only to find a couple months later, "it's not me." If you're not aligning your business with your values, what are you doing? From experience, it won't last. You can make a great living doing what you love.

Thanks Samantha.

Re: Time Management Tip #1 – Why Setting Goals and Objectives and Then Putting a Plan in Place for Your Life is So Important

This is a really interesting study.
